My Hero Academia is an anime series based upon the Original Manga of the same name by author Kōhei Horikoshi and within a few short years has become one of the most popular franchises in Anime history. The series follows the Adventures of Izuku Midoriya, a Quirkless boy with dreams of becoming the world’s greatest superhero.
The first issue released in Japan in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on July 7th, 2014, and subsequently its popularity made its way over to the United States and its first English translated volume published by Viz Media was released to the American audience on August 4th, 2015, and now in 2018 there are now 20 Volumes available to read. It wasn’t long before the Anime was commissioned and on Japanese TV on April 3rd, 2016 the very first episode aired. 3 season later, My Hero, Academia is a smash hit and new fans of the franchise are clamouring to find where they can view the Anime.
But is it on Netflix?
The short answer is yes… if you live in India that is but even if you have access to watch the Indian Netflix the English dub is unavailable. But due to licensing of the English Dub the anime is not available on Netflix in North America, Europe, and Australia.
Well, where is it Streaming?
Fans of the show in the United States can watch the Anime on 3 different streaming services, both English Dub & Sub are available on Hulu, English Dub is on Funimation and English Sub on Crunchyroll.
Fans of the TV Network Toonami (Where most of us watched our Animes growing up) is apart of Adult Swim to which they are apart of the Time Warner one of the stakeholders in Hulu. So for American audiences, unless you have one of the above I’m afraid it will be a very long time before we see young Midoriya on the streaming service.
For Europe and Australia, you’ll need a subscription to FUNimation for the English Dub or you can watch it on Crunchyroll.

But could we see a potential release for Netflix?
For all audiences, if and when the license for My Hero Academia runs out for Crunchyroll we could see all the episodes in the Japanese Dub move to Netflix, the issue for any future releases of the English Dub is all the licensing is with FUNimation Entertainment who have produced the English dub for the show and have their own streaming service offering all the shows they have produced an English translation for on the site. If Netflix were to offer their own cast and do their own version of the Dub we could see some movement on this but like the Dragonball franchise FUNimation’s dub the voice acting is excellent, it would be hard for any studio to replicate the success of FUNimation’s hard work.
